March 19 Protest Actions Coalition

The March 19th Peace Actions Coalition is a group of New York peace groups and activists planning a weekend of coordinated antiwar actions and events to protest the start of the 5th year of the Iraq War.  We are working on our own actions - including a large-scale Wall Street civil disobedience on Monday, March 19, the anniversary of the invasion itself - as well as helping to publicize the actions of other groups.

The millions that went into the streets on February 15, 2003 need to make themselves heard again - now joined by the millions more that have come to oppose the war since it began four long years ago.  We are looking for new ideas and new blood -- novel actions that will both give voice toNew York City's diverse communities as well as capture the imagination of a new generation of protestors.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Public Peace Meditation at Labyrinth of Contemplation at Battery Park  Sunday, March 18, 1:00 PM.

We will assemble at the Labyrinth of Contemplation in Battery Park, engaging in silent meditation.

Individuals are free to come and go; children are welcome. Due to soggy ground conditions we are not able to use Central Park, as originally announced. Since the expected high on Sunday March 18 is only 40 degrees, we are shortening the duration to 4 hours - 1PM to 5PM. If the forecast improves significantly we may lengthen the meditation period - visit www.MeditationToRaisePeace.org the night before action for actual schedule. Please dress appropriately in any event. span>

Hoping to harness inner peace for world peace, this is an event that will let meditators, yoga practitioners, and others direct their spiritual energies into a dramatic and public statement for world peace.
